WHAT VIDEO CAN DO THAT PHOTOGRAPHS CAN’T

Most couples planning a wedding have thought about possibly getting a wedding video in addition to their wedding photos, but it can be easy to dismiss when you know you have a great photographer to capture all the moments of the day. A video can seem excessive (both in cost and in the amount of steps you’re taking to document the day) and so a video can be overlooked during the planning stages. We’ve found that more often than not, couples who opt out of including a video package for their big day come back and tell us they wish they’d decided to include it. Getting a wedding video may not be for everyone, but before you make a decision on whether or not to get one, consider what a video can capture that  photographs can’t.

Your wedding day is about the vows you and your partner make to one another in spending the rest of your lives together. Chances are you’ve thought about your vows a lot (or will soon!) and have either personalized them by writing your own or spent time picking out ones that suit the two of you as a couple. Photos of the moment when you say your vows and your “I do’s” won’t capture the same emotion that a video will. As a bonus, a video of your ceremony will often catch funny, sweet and unique moments between the two of you that you won’t even realize are happening! A different perspective of your wedding ceremony is great to have to look back on and of course to share with your family friends and any future children and grandchildren you may have!

Your bridal party are your best friends! They’re there for you always, especially during the stress of planning a wedding, so to have them be with you on your wedding day is a big deal. There will be photos of you with your bridesmaids and your groom with his groomsmen, but it’s difficult to capture the essences of your friendship through photos. A video will capture the funny things your bridesmaids say and do while getting ready, how goofy the guys can be as they’re hanging out. It’s fun to look back on the day and see everything you may have missed while getting yourself ready.

Your wedding day is so full of love and happiness for you and for everyone who attends that it comes through on video. It can be fun to look back on your video and scan the crowd for people sharing a dance during the reception, holding hands during your ceremony or just having a good time talking with other guests during the cocktail hour. Photographs might capture a glimpse of people, but video will capture their personalities.

Your wedding photos and your wedding album will show all of the best and important moments of your wedding day. They can capture emotions and be funny and spontaneous, but they won’t show the day the same way a video will. A video will give an overall feeling for how the day was. It will incorporate audio clips, toasts from the father of the bride and the bridal party, a song or moment your groom surprises you with, your first kiss, your first dance and all the little moments that your wedding photos only capture a second of.
